TKGA Circle Community Updates: New Courses, Challenges, and Exclusive Member Spaces

When we first introduced the TKGA Circle Community in our blog post, TKGA Circle Community: A New Home for Knitters Everywhere, we shared our excitement about building a dedicated online space where knitters could learn, connect, and grow together. That post marked the beginning of a new chapter for TKGA—a chapter focused on community, accessibility, and meaningful connection beyond social media platforms.

Now that members have begun exploring all the many features of the Circle platform, we’re thrilled to share an update on everything that’s new, everything that’s expanding, and everything that’s available exclusively inside this member‑only space. If you’re a TKGA member, your invitation has already been emailed to you. Simply log in using your TKGA email address and click “Forgot Password” to set up your account and join the conversation.

If you’re not yet a member, this is the perfect moment to join. Circle is just one of the benefits of being a TKGA member. It offers a richer, more organized, and more supportive experience than Facebook or Ravelry ever could. Today we’ll walk you through the newest additions—online courses, seasonal challenges, exclusive resources, and more—so you can make the most of everything Circle has to offer.

What Makes TKGA’s Circle Community Special

The Circle platform is designed as a welcoming, distraction‑free space where knitters can learn, share, and grow together. Members can join dedicated chat groups for every TKGA course and certification program, access exclusive resources created specifically for Circle, and enjoy spaces to post progress photos, share tips, ask questions, and celebrate milestones.

The community also includes a Knitter’s Swap for exchanging books, yarn, and notions, plus a bulletin board where members can post local meet‑ups, guild events, and opportunities to connect. Seasonal challenges, special pattern releases, exclusive discounts, and behind‑the‑scenes updates round out the experience, making Circle a true home base for TKGA members.

Online Courses Now Available Inside Circle

One of the most exciting developments in the Circle Community is the rollout of online, video‑based versions of TKGA’s most popular courses. These courses are designed to give members more flexibility, more support, and more ways to learn—whether you’re working toward certification or simply expanding your skills.

The first major release online version of Basics, Basics, Basics, one of TKGA’s most beloved foundational courses. Members can now work through lessons at their own pace, watch tutorials, chat with others taking the course, and message their instructor directly inside Circle. For those who prefer the traditional email/PDF format, that option is still available. If you’re already enrolled, simply log into Circle and click the Courses tab at the top to begin.

We’ve also launched Marketing Yourself Within the Knitting Industry, part of our “Work Online Wednesday” series. This course is ideal for designers, tech editors, instructors, shop owners, and anyone building a knitting‑related business. Once enrolled, you’ll have unlimited access to lessons that walk you through branding, marketing strategy, and business development. You can return to the course anytime to revisit the long list of ideas designed to help you grow your presence and increase sales.

In addition to these full-length courses, TKGA has created three new mini‑courses—Photographing Your Work for Courses, Required Skills, and Stitch Anatomy—all of which are free and available exclusively to Circle members. These short, focused lessons are designed to help you strengthen the skills needed for TKGA’s larger courses and certification programs. They’re also a great way to preview what’s expected if you’re considering enrolling in a course for the first time.

Seasonal Challenges on Circle

The first seasonal challenge launched this spring and focused on two‑color slip stitches—a technique that is surprisingly approachable and often easier to learn than working slip stitch in a single color.

The challenge is designed to be fun, supportive, and skill‑building. Members knit a swatch, post progress photos, and connect with others who are working through the same technique. The challenge space will include articles, videos, and tips to help you improve your slip stitch knitting, whether you’re learning it for the first time or refining your existing skills. When you complete the challenge, you’ll be able to download your badge and celebrate your accomplishment with the community.

This is just the beginning. Seasonal challenges will continue throughout the year, each one offering a new opportunity to learn, practice, and connect with fellow knitters.

Working on a Course or Certification? Join Your Chat Group

Every TKGA course and certification program now has its own dedicated chat group inside Circle. These groups offer a supportive environment where you can connect with others working through the same material, share progress, ask questions, and receive encouragement. Some instructors are also available by chat, offering guidance and clarity when you need it most.

If you’ve ever wished for a study group or a place to talk through tricky techniques, these chat groups are exactly that.

If you’ve earned your Certified Master Hand Knitter designation, we invite you to join Circle and share your expertise. The community now includes an Ask a Master Knitter space where members can ask questions about their personal knitting challenges.

This space is not connected to the Master Hand Knitting program itself—questions about the program should not be asked here. Instead, this is a place where knitters can seek help with techniques, troubleshooting, yarn choices, and general knitting questions. Master Knitters receive a special tag identifying their status, making it easy for members to recognize and appreciate their contributions.

Exclusive Member‑Only Extras

Circle is also home to special offerings available only to TKGA members. These include exclusive discounts from partner brands, special pattern releases, early access to select events, and behind‑the‑scenes updates from TKGA leadership. These extras are our way of thanking you for being part of the TKGA community and helping us build a space where knitters can thrive.
