This cowl features a leaf and bud pattern from Hitomi Shida’s Japanese Knitting Stitch Bible, (reviewed in Cast On, Spring 2018) to create an elegant lace cowl, the perfect winter gift to remind a loved one that spring is coming.
The pattern for this cowl is from a member. It was Jocelyn Seal’s entry for the 2017 Design Contest.
The pattern in this issue is from Laurie Chochinov, a Master Knitter since 2012. Her English Diamond Cowl uses a gradient yarn from Apple Tree Knits. As one would expect from a Master Knitter, her pattern gives the knitter a chance to practice many hand knitting skills, including provisional cast on, slip stitches, variation in gauge, and finishing techniques.
This cowl, using Baah Shasta yarn, features a diagonal running Basketweave stitch. Mini cables slant from right to left and sweep around its circumference.
