A Vest for Gus accompanies the Skill Building article which discusses how to measure gauge for a project that is worked both in the round and flat.
The Confident Beginner pattern is for a reversible bag, using Berroco Weekend. It is worked from the top down, starting with the strap. Once the strap is complete, stitches for the top of the bag are cast on from one end of the strap. The opposite end of the strap is then attached and the remaining stitches for the top of the bag are cast on. The top edge is then joined to work in the round for the body of the bag. The bottom is seamed with the three-needle bind off.
This article by Arenda Holladay provides step-by-step instructions for knitting a toe-up sock. Three patterns are included.
The Confident Beginner pattern reinforces the topic of the Skill Building article. This issue’s pattern is the Fibonnacci Fun Shawlette by Binka Schwan. The yarn is The Loopy Ewe Seasonings series in the color Buffie’s Icelandic Fall.
