Pillow Front

CO 48 sts. Work Rows 1-8 of Garter Stitch Basketweave pat over all sts. Rep Rows 1-8 nine more times, then work Rows 1-4 again. BO all sts in pat.

TECHNICAL TIPS—To bind off in pattern, bind off working the next pattern row, which should be a right-side row, or knit across the row as you bind off.

If you were able to match both stitch and row gauge, then your pillow should measure 10” square following the above directions. Sometimes you cannot match both stitch and row gauge. In this case, it is more important to match the stitch gauge to ensure the pillow will not be too wide or narrow. If you do not match row gauge, you may need to work fewer or more rows to meet the required length of 10”. Ending on Row 4 vertically balances the pattern, so you should try to end on this row.

Pillow Back

CO 48 sts. Work Rows 5-8 of Garter Stitch Basketweave pat over all sts. Then work Rows 1-8 ten times. BO all sts in pat.

TECHNICAL TIP—Beginning and ending the second side with the top half of the stitch pattern will carry the stitch pattern over the side seams.

Finishing

Block both pieces. With wrong sides facing, join sides and bottom of pillow. Insert pillow form and seam top closed.
