This lovely top features a Shetland lace pattern. The edging for the body and sleeves is worked lengthwise, and then stitches are picked up along the long edge, and the body or sleeve is worked bottom-up. The construction of the top is a bit unusual, having only one side seam. The lace pattern did not lend itself to being worked exclusively from the right side, which would have been necessary for a seamless garment.
This Shetland-inspired rectangular knit shawl is worked from the bottom edge up and features horizontal panels of Shetland lace patterns.
The Mayfair Cardigan has a cropped length and allover lace pattern. Worked in a bright colorful merino in a heavy DK, it has saddle shoulders which are centered on the top of the shoulder, with the Diamond Mesh lace centered on the saddle tab.
Worked in the round from the top down, this child’s jumper has a tiered, ruched-skirt for your favorite twirl girl. It is reminiscent tutu worn by the Little Dancer in Edgar Degas’ sculpture.
The halter is knit in the round from the bottom up. Stitches are picked up from an I-cord. The front is worked in 2×2 rib and the back is worked in a lace pattern. I-cord is attached at the front neck and lies over the shoulders. It is threaded through a tube at the top of the back and tied, creating adjustable straps.
This adorable sweater is a Blast From the Past. Leslie Gonzalez designed it to accompany a Stitch Anatomy on the Trinity Stitch in 2013. It features a shoulder placket which makes it ideal for this issue, The Fashion Framework article discusses plackets.
Within this striking medieval cape lurks a hidden dragon, visible only at an angle. Illusion knitting, or shadow knitting, is surprisingly easy to do. The entire piece is worked in a combination of stockinette and garter stitches. The chart is different from regular knitting and special instructions for working the chart are listed.
